We raise dairy goats and meat goats here on our farm.
Our dairy goats are Saanens and Nigerian dwarves. And our meat breeds are full blood Boers and percentages.
We started out with 2 Saanen grade does and 10 years later have 140 +/- goats. Our goats have been tested for CAE, Johnes,
TB & Brucellosis and are negative. We do fecal tests a couple of times a year. We have not had CL on the farm.
I fell in love with Saanens at a local county fair. I looked into their eyes and knew that this was my breed. They are heavy
milkers, and easy going. They are full of personality and very sweet. They know their names, and are extremely intelligent. We
don’t show our Saanens, although they do come from a combination of show lines and milk lines. We keep many Saanen
bucks and also use artificial insemination for our breeding program. We sell selected buck kids and wethers each year.
We have a herd of Nigerian Dwarves. They are my daughter’s herd, from a combination of different pedigrees. We have had
Nigerians for 8 years. Nigerians have a higher butterfat content and are small and compact. They have the cutest babies, tiny
and spunky. We have a number of bucks, and also collect and market their semen. We sell select buck kids and wethers each
year.
Our goats kid in the winter and early spring and by late spring are out on our organic pasture. We rotate
pastures for our goats every 2-3 weeks. They eat a wonderful high protein browse and are never on the
same pasture twice in a season. This makes for a wonderful tasting milk and meat product.
Please contact us for any interest you have in our goat products. We do deliver goat meat and products to
Pittsburgh at least once a month, sometimes more often.
