FARM DAYS, VOLUNTEERING & FARM EDUCATION
VISITING AND FARM DAYS:
We are always asked if we are open to the public. This is one of those questions that I felt the need to address. We are here if
you would like to buy products from us and you have made arrangements to pick them up. We are not available for people to
come to the farm at any time. This is our home, and we are constantly working all day. Having someone just stop because
they felt like visiting a farm that day usually doesn't work out well for us. We could have people here nonstop 7 days a week if
we did not set up some guidelines.
And we love our customers and community. And we love sharing our farm and teaching, but we also have work to do!
And yes, we love having volunteers, but contact us first. So, in 2007 we do plan on having one day a month from May through
October that we will have as an open farm day for our customers. We will have a potluck and visits, and maybe an evening
bonfire. The day of the month will vary, depending on what is important and going on with our immediate family. Subscribe to
our newsletter for more information.
Volunteering and
Internships
We are always asked if we take volunteers.
We have had volunteers in the past and I
always welcome hard working individuals. I
love sharing what we know and have
learned. Farm work is hard, and we don’t sit
around most of the day. I have found many a
‘volunteer’ who came for one day and wasted
my day just to find out that they had
underestimated the amount of work it took
here. So, because of this, we have had to
make a list of guidelines. We do welcome
volunteers but on a case by case basis.
We have offered internships in the past, but
at this time, we do not offer one.
FARM EDUCATION & 'PETTING ZOOS'
We have done many petting zoos and farm education programs in schools, at farm education centers, Universities, colleges, and centers.
And for years we have volunteered our time to do this.
We now charge for this service.
